[It's a pretty ordinary day as ordinary days go. The weather's nice - sunny, warm, a calm wind...a very ordinary day indeed. And Norma is soaking up the peace and quiet in as much as she can. Dressed down in some dark skinny jeans (which she has learned as super freaking comfy) and a ruffly yellow top, she's laying on the grass by the bank of the southern lake. Usually, she'd be basking like this at the ocean, but that was just too far away this time, and she's feeling kind of lazy. Even the energetic ones have to buckle down and take a break to just relax once in a while.

She has a certain someone's hat (in black!) covering her face to keep off the sun and the insects that seem to be buzzing to life. The only bad thing about the springtime according to Norma. But, thankfully, not very many were out even now. She sighs under the hat crosses her hands behind her head to catch up on one hell of a nap.

...Until she hears a very peculiar buzzing in her ear. Thinking it to be a bug of some sort, she absently swats her hand at the sound, but it doesn't go away on little bit. It persists, and Norma frowns, using both hands now to swat the unyielding creature. Finally, she gets fed up and sits straight up, the hat flopping into her lap.]

OOOH, WILL YOU SHUT UP?! Some of us wanna take a nap in the sunshine, jeez!

[Yeah, that's all fine and dandy, miss, but there's not a damn thing around to be seen. In fact, the peculiar noise seems to be coming not from the flora or fauna, but from the lakefront. The water seems to be beckoning. Noisily. Or at least that's what it...seems like. Norma can't quite make out what the voice(?) really wants. If you could even call it a voice - kinda just an annoying noise.]

...Nessy? [No, no, can't be. Nerifes was back on her world, obviously. But wait, maybe it was one of those spirit thingies she heard about? Well, if that's right, then--] Jeez! It's about time! You're the water do-hickey person, right? I've been trying to get a hold of you for ever and you just wake me up like that?! Well, maybe I don't wanna talk anymore, how 'bout that? Not unless you got something good to say - or teach me or whatever. I could do with some water based eres under my belt.

[Later, after she's had her quip with Sona (who Norma's happily nicknamed So-Noisy),she opens her journal up as she dips her feet into the water of the lake.]

Uh, I don't usually ask for pointers on ere--uh, I mean...magic, but anyone who knows some good water spells or something, think you could give me a hand? I'm preeetty good with my elemental-based crystal eres, but I still don't know water, wind, and light. And just a little electricity.

I guess what I'm asking is if anyone's got magical talent, pipe up now, cuz I wanna learn more of it! Especially the ones I don't know! Oh, and I guess I could return the favor, too. I mean, if you wanna know some of what I know, I could give it a shot myself. Name's Norma by the way, for anyone who just got dumped here. Norma Beatty, expert treasure hunter and skilled eren in all aspects of offense, defense, and healing crystal eres, ta-daaah~!

[Norma shrugs. Eh, sure does seem that way...and it kind of takes off a bit of her own personal glamour that comes with being a world saver and all that. Ah well, that's just how it goes in a place like Luceti, right? She can still ham it up and pretend to be a super hero or something like that - nothing stopping her from a little dramatics here and there.]

Uh...I think it's been two years, but I've really only just started speaking with this one, and that's the only one I've spoken to. Kinda surprising, actually...I'd have thought the earthy spirit would've been the first to talk to me or something.

[They could start a club about saving the world.] It can take that long to talk with the spirits here? What, do we need to get used to this place or that long or something? [UUUUUUUUUGH and she wanted to study them.]

I don't think so. I mean, I met with So-Noisy on accident, and I wasn't really trying real hard to get to know any of 'em before. [She shrugs. Really, Norma's only gotten an interest in the filial spirits just recently.]

But I know other people can and have made pacts and stuff pretty fast - it just depends on the spirit or something, I...I guess. I don't really know too much about it. Like I said, I just met the watery one on accident, but I think there are others who're waaay easier to get a hold of.

Is that really the spirit's name? So-Noisy? [She questions these names like whoa here, they just sound bizarre.]

Ahhh, I see. So it all comes down to the person getting in touch with said spirits. I guess they must play favorites with some people here, huh?

What? Oh, ahahaa! No, it's actually Sona, I think, but I gave 'er a nickname. [Like she gives everyone nicknames. In fact, Norma should probably ask this chick's name sooner rather than later to give her a good one.]

Uhh...I dunno, but I think that's how it works. Like, y'know, if you're more in-tune with one of the spirits' elemental properties, I guess it'd take a shine to you faster than if you weren't. Kinda makes sense, don't you think? Though I'd have expected the earthy one to get to me first, actually, before the water one. Kiiinda weird, but I'm not complaining! I know enough good earth eres to be satisfied.

Kind of an odd nickname... no offense! [Call her Cryssie and you're dead.]

That does make sense! I guess I'd naturally go towards people who are more like me, after all. Since I'd get along better with them. But... what are "eres"? A type of magic?

[...Welp. At least Norma will have lived a good life. Either way, Norma shrugs off the comment of her choice in nicknames and moves on to the other bit. She really doesn't care for critics.]

Yep! Eres is my world's brand of magic, and there's two kinds of erens, magic users, to go with it. Those like me, who're crystal erens, deal with elemental spells and sometimes healing, if they really know it. I'm pretty special in that I can also buff up my friends, or shoot down the power levels of attacking monsters and stuff, too. The side of the scale are iron erens, which deal with more physical damage. Martial arts and weaponry and stuff.

Actually, just the word itself is pretty special, and it comes from an ancient language not a lot of people like me know fluently. Eres actually means "claw" or "fingernail" as well as magic. Because when we execute or cast a spell, the tips of our fingers glow a certain color, matching the spell's element.

[AND SHE'LL BURN THE HAT.] That's pretty interesting. I never really imagined magic could be so organized and complicated. But you sound like a pretty handy magician!

Can I see one of your spells, please?

[M-Magician... Jeez, that word sounds so...so unreal. Norma is an eren, thank you very much, not some hat-trick, card-shuffling, sparkle-butt or whatever. But at least she know this girl's not saying it to be mean. Everyone around here uses 'magic', not 'eres' like she does. It's jst something she's got to get used to or something.]

Huh, you want a demonstration? Uh, I...I mean--I guess I could. Yeah, okay! You got it! One super awesome, blow-your-mind crystal eres spell coming right up! [Just gotta...think of a good one. Hm, hm...okay! Got one. After marking this girl as a friend so she won't get hurt, Norma begins the chant.]

[Hey fuck you, Eusine is a great mystical man, okay, his magic kicks butt.

AND HOOOOOOOOOOO SHIT yes, that is pretty goddamn impressive, it's like the move Earthquake or Fissure.] Incredible... I've only seen Pokemon be able to do something like that! And you can do it any time?

[HEH. Now that's how it's done! Norma lifts her head up proudly, puffing out her chest with her hands on her hips - a deed well done, and praise well deserved. It's always so nice to be loved and appreciated for the rad crystal eres she can whip out. No one seems to see just how epic a caster she is. Oh woe and sadness...]

Not bad, huh? And while I can do that one enough times to make it count, all crystal eres take a toll on your body. It's exhausting to cast again and again, and eventually you get worn out and have to wait for your strength to come back. That one just now was high crystal eres, so it not only takes longer to cast, but it takes up a lot of my energy.

[Crys can't help the smile coming across her face, as she tries not to laugh at Norma's... rather elaborate pose.] So I guess in order to use these eres, you have to be pretty tough, huh? You know, good endurance and durability so you can use them when necessary.

Yeah, kind of! Though eres actually get easier to use the more you, y'know, use them. Once you really master a spell, it sometimes takes less time to cast, less of your energy, and you can even sometimes cast it again right away after executing the first one. But of course, it's still tough on anyone in the long run, but....hmm... I guess the best way to describe it is like taking a really long, hard run. You get tired, but after some rest and maybe a bite of food, your strength comes back. Nothing too bad happens when you're outta juice completely.

You just can't use your eres until your strength's returned. But there's gels and different bottles for that.
