[It's been a pretty weird few days, ever since tht stupid experiment. Norma hasn't really been keeping to the house, even with the more friendly members back from being babysat or on a joint mission or whatever. Of course she tries to be around for Sophie whenever she needs to be watched, but any time she has to get away, Norma take the opportunity to do just that. She's been trying to commune with the filial spirits lately, and today she's at the ocean again - it's far enough from her house and far enough away from distractions. Plus, it's nice here.

Norma exhales, long and slowly, and squishes her toes in the wet sand as the waves lap against her ankles. She can feel the water pulling at her heels, and pushing her back with each surge - the air smells nice, and she remembers the scent fondly. Melfes is a planet mostly dominated by water, after all. A calm water, and a raging one.

She's not really mindful of her surroundings, trying to focus mainly on the water and the atmosphere around her. That, and trying to locate the familiar buzzing she always hears in her head, and that feeling of presence of another entity - a filial spirit.]

Mmm...c'mon. I know you're not Nessy, but you're there. I can feel it. So show up already! Isn't it enough that I wanna learn something? Jeez, you're pretty picky. [She inhales again, then pushes forward a step into the water.] Zeleres - new magic. I wanna learn new magic, so hit me with your best shot! If you think I'm not up to the challenge, then chew on this - Nessy gave me and my friends sacred eres! And we're people of the land. So come on, So-Noisy, teach me something alrea--whoa!

[A light begins to shine, from the tips of her fingers, and Norma clenches her fists, pumping one into the air.] Finally! Jeez, it took you long enough to gimme a bit of a boost! Let's see what I get! Yeaaah!

[...Yeah, anyone watching or expecting a big, super awesome, cool water move is going to be rather disappointed. A spot in the sea gurgles and bubbles like a frothing mess, as it if were preparing to surge up or something, but quickly fizzles out. Seems like Norma's going to need more practice, but at least she's got Sona's attention, and her help. Though she was kinda expecting...well, easy street. Nessy's gift didn't require anything other than execution. Maybe that made her a bit spoiled. Either way, she's none to happy.]

That's it?! Oooh, come on, that was pathetic!! You only taught me how to blow bubbles and I can already do that without your help! Jeez, you're a pretty crummy water spirit, that's for sure! Hey!

[Seems she pissed off Sona, because a rogue wave just smacked her right in the legs, getting most of her lower body wet. Lovely.]

[Don is out running on the beach when he spots a distantly-familiar figure: someone he knew well in a life he never lived. He slows down, then veers towards her.]

Norm? ... Norma?

[Now that's a voice, and a nickname, she recognizes. As Norma rings out the hem of her skirt, preparing to try again, she pauses. O-Oh...well. Um.]

D-D...uh. [One more try, girl.] Um, hey...Donnie.

[He stands there awkwardly for a moment.]

I'm sorry. When these things happen, I'm never sure whether I should introduce myself or ask why you haven't come home.

Heeh, that was pretty cute, Norma-chan.

[He did see that. And the splash part was the best. For his part, he's over at the beach more to enjoy the sun than anything. We're at the tail end of summer and both him and his Pikachu (next to him) resolved to suntan a little. He actually walked in on her with a fold up chair under his arm]

Hey! Well, if it isn't the girl who is full of surprises. [Comes his voice from a short distance behind her. Hopefully it won't startle her too much, but yes, he did see most of that. Yet, he's nice so he won't mention the talking to water thing (just yet).

And in greeting, he gives a wave. Hello again, careless cake girl! Funny meeting you here.] So, what's this scared eres stuff you've mentioned? [Because it looks like she is trying to use fonic artes or something eerily similar.]

[Not too much, though Norma wasn't expecting really anyone to appear on the beach today. Guess she didn't think others liked long walks on the beach to think or anything, or that with summer almost over, she'd be alone. Thankfully, the face is...somewhat familiar. So, as she wrings out her clothes, she waves back, albeit with a little unease. She's not sure what to make of this guy now that everything's back to normal. She had no idea who he was!]

And it's the Suit, bumping into me again, I see. [Ah, a quick turn-around to get herself to backlog that weirdness.]Huh? Oh, uh. Well, it's kind like a super strong burst of, uh...magic, I guess you people'd call it. Really beefed up spells! A heck of a lot stronger than what I already know, but they take a lot more to really cast.

[She'll find out he is the same guy deep down, only not married to the most beautiful woman in the world... if she even knew that in the first place. And the suit is replaced by the much more eccentric imperial getup he has from home.

And he nods once, then twice while saying:]

Ah, yes, I know. What you were doing just now was a lot like fonic artes. Though I personally never could use the magic myself.

[Ever since the trip with Walter, Oscar now knows the way to the ocean. He decides that it's time to visit again with everything settling but still hanging in the air, because a change in scenery might do him good. He's not very bothered by what happened in the past, but others are, and that can spoil the mood either way.

When he arrives, however, he catches the end of Norma's shouts and investigates in time to see the spiteful wave. He shakes his head, albeit good-naturedly.]

That's no good. The spirit isn't going to want to teach you if you say hurtful things, is it?

[Norma can easily recognize the voice, and she can also recognize when she's being scolded. In a manner than is not entirely mature, but very Norma, she sticks her tongue and makes a rather rude sound - then promptly directs it towards the ocean. By now she's gotten away from the swell, the hem of her skirt still dripping in the sand, but she's lose enough to it that her toes get wet when another wave comes up farther on land.]

Sometimes I think she couldn't teach me to boil water! Besides, it sure as heck makes me feel better.

[In spite of Norma's attitude, all she gets from Oscar is the tipping of his head, his brows knit and lips downturned in thought.]

Why would she? Boiling water is simple.

[Because that is clearly what matters.]

[There's a sputtering sound from behind as the wave splashes at her. It's pretty easy to identify it as a failed attempt to contain laughter.

If Norma turns around, she'll see Fenimore, hands over her mouth. She's clearly overheard at least the last part and is amused by Norma's difficulties. She'll wave, one hand still over her mouth, if she notices she's being looked at, but she's not in control of her voice enough yet to say anything. Sorry, Norma.]

[Norma whips around the moment she hears what sounds like a choking elephant seal. Oh wait, no, it's worse - a laughing Ferines. Subtle there, Fenimore, really subtle. Norma huffs indignantly and puts her hands on her hips as she puffs out her lower lip in a pout. Tee hee hee, very funny indeed. Just you want until she gets over there. She'll maybe give you a nice, big, wet hug.]

Oh, shut it! It's probably super duper easy for you! At least I'm trying to put some effort into this!

[Fenimore is, in fact, probably one of the least spiritually atuned Ferines out there. She's put out virtually no effort in trying to contact any of the spirits, except maybe the mildest of overtures to Faeren after the whole possession thing, and she's honestly terrible when it comes to eres. But she's not going to volunteer this information readily.

She does get her laughter under control, though, even if there is still a bit of a grin.]

You might be putting some effort in, but I doubt it'll help to berate someone you're asking for a favour, spirit or not.

[Like she has room to talk about not berating people who frustrate her.]

[When she needs comfort and a chance to clear her mind, Ami finds the water is best. So she can't really complain about someone else having the same idea, but when she feels something change in the nearby current, and realizes the other girl is manipulating it, she offers a quiet word of advice when the effort fizzles it.]

I think it's better to start with the small things like that, even if they don't seem impressive, so that you can build up to the things you want to do.

[Besides that, bubbles and mist are quite useful in the proper circumstances. She should know.]

[Norma glances over her shoulder, blinking a little in surprise. She didn't expect anyone else to be on the beach today - summer was ending - guess she was wrong. With a sigh, she casts a glare out to the sea before heading back and away from the water. No need to get any more wet than she already is, in case Sona decides to have another go at her or something.]

Its not that I wasn't expecting tremendous to happen right off the bat [Yes she was.] but...I dunno, something! It's hard enough just getting this this dang spirit to talk to me for more than a few minutes! What she's teaching me seems like it's more trouble than it's worth, that's for sure, but I wanna learn the elements I don't already know, y'know?

[For Ami, the soldier of Water, Sona is the one she understands the most, without even trying, it seems like. Her powers are already water-based, so she's spent more time learning healing magic instead, but Sona is like... a dear friend she's known ever since she was born, throughout all her lifetimes and incarnations, familiar and nostalgic.]

If it's something that doesn't come easily to you, I think it might be even more rewarding to learn. You know you've overcome that difficulty.

Also, I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself right away. I'm Ami Mizuno. I'm very pleased to meet you.

[Aang is nearby in his swimming trunks - it seemed like a nice day to go the beach and unwind. But then he winds up watching that scene... in confusion.]

[Her patience was already frayed at is is, and that</> comment is enough to shred it completely. She grits her teeth, then stomps her foot down hard in the sand.]

Oh, will you stuff it?! At least I'm trying!

[He giggles for a moment, but raises his hands defensively.]

Sorry! I'll stuff it like stuffing! [And he makes a motion as if stuffing things into his mouth.] You're still practicing watery things?

[The beach is one of Grune's favourite places in all of Luceti. It's not just because she's from Melfes, although that certainly is a large part of it. She has a lot of memories associated with this particular beach, of parties and fun and one or two serious moments, too.

Right now, though, the reason the beach is one of Grune's favourite places? Would be because one of her favourite people in all of Luceti happens to be on it.

And yes, Norma, she saw everything. So right about now, you should be hearing an enthusiastic round of applause coming from behind you.]

Oh, my, good job, Norma! You made such a big wave! I'm so proud of you!

[That applause certainly wasn't what Norma was expecting, so the sound of it startles her a little bit. She was so focused on doing her best with concentrating and trying to listen to the water spirit that she didn't even realize she was no longer alone. And...darn it, she can't even be mad or miffed at Grune because Norma knows she's being sincere with her compliments. She always is, even if it's not exactly right to give any congratulations for a failure like that.]

Uh...thanks, G-Girl, but that really wasn't what I was aiming for. All I really did was make it look like the ocean was about to toss it's seashells or something.

[Well someone's giggling. Norma probably didn't even hear her come up the sand behind her, with how hard she was concentrating.]

Especially with all the work she's been putting in, what she has to show for it, and people laughing at her efforts. This is hard, okay?! Learning actual eres spells are a heck of a lot easier!]
